Nissan Motor Corporation announced that they would soon launch their Datsun brand in Zimbabwe. This is a move to expand their market presence in Africa.

Nissan revealed that they would start with the distribution of three Datsun models, including Datsun GO, Datsun GO+, and the Datsun GO+ Panel Van. These models will be produced specifically for the first time vehicle buyers in the market. The Panel Van will be tailored to meet the market demand of small to mid-sized enterprises in Zimbabwe.

Des Fenner who is the general manager and head of South Africa Datsun brand expressed excitement saying that Datsun was proud and privileged to explore new markets. He noted that the Datsun brand was committed to providing the best, attractive and reliable Datsun vehicles to their consumers in Zimbabwe. The Datsun brand expansion is set to have five dealership stops in Zimbabwe with two located in the country’s largest cities, Bulawayo and Harare.

Datsun is keen in re-establishing itself with a strong independent vehicle brand identity in the fast-growing African Continent. Datsun has already set camp in several African automobile markets including South Africa, Namibia, Botswana, Mauritius, Lesotho, and Swaziland.  Datsun South Africa, which was re-launched in 2014, is doing quite well with brands such as Datsun GO Hatchback.

Nissan hoped to increase its popularity in the African market which it has achieved through its Datsun brand. Datsun GO is the most popular car among new car owners who prefer Datsun models. The Datsun GO is cheaper compared to other new vehicle models, and it is mostly used as a family car. It has an electronically controlled accelerator that enables smoother rides, lower emissions, and fewer maintenance costs. It is quite ideal for consumers seeking a spacious, stylish and economical car.
